You absolutely need good manners

Any signs that the man is rude should be a signal for you to click away. Being dismissive of any group including political positions, environmentalists, vegetarians, hard-working women, different religions, races or economic classes should be instant deal-breakers.

Any inappropriate sexual comments are red flags

With men over forty, inappropriate, explicit sexual suggestions are not as common as with the outspoken juvenile guys. With my online activity, blatant sexual comments were rare and they were usually pretty tame. (One man praised my dress and wondered what was underneath and another speculated about my breasts. And then I changed my profile photo to a tightly cropped head-shot!)
